Bringing in the New Year: 2008

I was trying to figure out what my first post of the new year should be. I’ve got plenty of New Year rants, but I didn’t want to start the year off with a negative tone. Instead of ranting, I’ll go with my New Year Resolutions.

Be More Healthy
Let’s face it, I sit in front of a computer 50 – 60 hours a week, I need to get up and stretch more often. I’d like to start running again, and possibly ride my bike once the snow is gone (if that ever happens). On top of all that, I need to eat healthier. I eat way to much junk food.

Less Talk
I’m a talker. I’ll talk to you ‘till I’m blue in the face. Nobody likes a talker. I need to shut my mouth more often and listen to what others have to say. I should also mention that this includes complaining. When things don’t go my way, I like to complain. That has got to stop too.

Less TV
With two kids, my wife and I don’t get out too much. We usually default to sitting in front of the TV until it’s time for bed. That usually means we end up watching mindless entertainment such as I Love New York or Hogan Knows Best. We’ve both decided that instead of watching TV so much, we’ll find other things to do that don’t require a remote control.

Get My Priorities Straight
I always have a long to do list and it’s always evolving. I often do what I want to do instead of doing what needs to be done. I’m always putting things on the back burner. I want to try to be more organized and prioritize what needs to be done and what I actually want to do.

Along with these resolutions I have some goals for this year.

Take on more freelance projects
I still consider myself to be breaking into the freelancing game, but my name seems to be finally getting out there. I’ve set a dollar amount that I’d like to hit this year from freelancing.

Finish Writing My Article
I started writing an article back in September for digital-web.com and I’d like to actually finish it. I’ve never really enjoyed writing, but would like to prove to myself that I’m actually capable of it.

Not Redesign iamdanielmarino.com
I have a bad habit of redesigning my web sites every other month. I think I’ve got something that works here and I’d like to focus my energy elsewhere than on this site.

I hear the healthy part, I’ve got the exercise thing down. I need to conquer the junk food now. Looking forward to your digital-web article.
