Flash Kicks My Butt

A Flash development project fell into my lap a couple of weeks ago. I was taking my sweet time with it because: a) there was no due date and b) it seemed like a Not-too-difficult project. Yesterday I found out it is due in two weeks, and it turned into a Oh-crap-what-am-I- going-to-do-now project. This is what usually happens when I get going in a Flash project. The Actionscripting kills me. I remember when I first started learning XML and Arrays in Flash and thought I’d never figure it out. Now those are the least of my problems.

One of the biggest problems for me is being able to work out a flow chart for Actionscripting. I don’t know what my limitations really are yet in Flash. I’ve only once, ran into a problem that I couldn’t solve in Flash, but was able to do something similar to what I originally wanted to do, thus not making me feel like a total failure. Not to mention, the final design never went live for one reason or another. I’m definitely not giving up on this project. Heck, I’m only two days into it! It’s just unfortunate that I have to be killing myself on a Friday like this.

Over time, I’ve learned that I’m not as interested in Flash as I used to be. The more I’ve worked with PHP and CSS, I’ve decided that I enjoy those much more. I’m not really sure why. That doesn’t mean that I won’t do Flash projects in the future… I’ll do whatever it takes to pay the bills!

Well, enough about Flash and Actionscript. It is Friday, so try to do something fun and enjoy the weekend!

Dan,
I’ve bought a new computer and a new IP. (Note the change of email address. In the process of converting my email addresses, I think I lost yours and Katie’s. The messge got kicked back to me. (Told me I had a mail demon. “Daemon” really.)
REALLY great job on the PCF website, Dan. Clean, practical, user-friendly and very attractive. Good job.
Blessings, Lennie. P.S. Sorry, but I know nothing of Flash and actionscripting. But I like the sound of action-scripting for evangelism!

As far as that mail demon in your computer is concerned, I suggest laying hands on it and pray it away!
