Links for Designers & Developers

I’m unloading some links I’ve been saving up just for web designers and developers. Hope you enjoy!

Web Designer’s Success Guide This link is almost too good to share with others! This FREE eBook, written by Kevin Airgid, is the definitive guide to starting your own freelance Web design business. He answers all the questions that newbie freelancers have, such as how much to charge, business forms, and where to find clients. Well worth reading.

Stock Photos and Vector Art for a Buck No, this isn’t iStockPhoto. Josh Lee at Humandef needs a new guitar, and lowered his prices so that he can generate some hoopla. I’m not a huge fan on using/paying for stock anything, and always prefer to use my own, but he’s got some good stuff here at an unbeatable price.

jQuery Fisheye Dock Menu Unless I were trying to replicate Mac OS X, I don’t know if I find this practical enough to use. It looks cool, but be warned, as it sounds like it’s pretty heavy in weight.

PHP4 on Death Row “Support for PHP 4 will cease by year’s end, forcing developers to move to the less popular PHP 5.” I don’t really know the differences well enough between the two versions to know why version 5 isn’t as popular as 4. My site is running on version 4, but only because that’s Dreamhost’s default.

LightWindow Another variation of Light-fill-in-the-blank. I’ve never used it, but it looks very powerful and fast. I’ve used LightBox in the past and it never really worked right in all browsers and it was heavy. May be this is the new solution?
