My Art
When I first launched this site, I had a link in the navigation that linked to a page displaying my artwork. Mostly because when I first launched, I didn’t have too much content, and I felt I should offer a little something extra to my visitors. I wasn’t trying to be like Ohhh, look at me… I’m so creative. It’s simply a creative outlet – a place for me to try to break the norms of my usual design process. It’s a place for me to learn how to think outside the box, and let go of my inhibitions. I don’t care how my artwork turns out, I just care that I’m breaking the mold.
My reasons for removing it were partly because of what I just mentioned. Do I want credible designers to come across this site (by the grace of God) and see my “junk art” – or even worse, do I want potential clients to see that and think, boy this guy is a poor designer and I don’t want him working on my project.
Another reason why I removed it is that some of the artwork I was creating was starting to get a little too personal. I don’t really want this to be an emotional outlet for me. The idea of this site is to promote my services and present information primarily to potential clients and other designers. One could make the argument that having a blog is already an emotional outlet. However, the majority of my posts have been stripped of emotion, as far as my politics, religious beliefs, and my family are concerned. This isn’t like my prior blog where I primarily focused on these topics of mention.
I’m starting to rethink the idea of removing my artwork. I’m not sure which direction I want to go in. Do I keep things strictly professional, or do I let things get a little candid around here? Any thoughts?
