New Google Analytics

Had an email in my inbox this morning from the Google Analytics team stating that they’ve rolled out a new beta version, and will be switching over accounts to the new version over the next several weeks. I was lucky enough to have mine switched over this morning.

I haven’t been using Google to track my new site because I was never completely happy with the layout and design of the previous version. It was kind of awkward to use and the interface was poor. I’ve been using a beta version of Reinvigorate to track my new site. And of course there’s Mint, but I can’t justify spending $35 to track my site when there are other web apps that I can use for free.

I hate to use a way-overused term, but at first glance, Google Analytics beta looks and feels Web 2.0 – They’ve really cleaned up the interface. When you log in, it takes you to your dashboard, where you can customize what data you want to appear and where. There’s also the ability to export and have stats emailed in a PDF and XML format.

I’m sure there are plenty more features, than the couple I’ve mentioned. I think I’ll set up this site to use Google Analytics just for kicks to see how I like it. Google has a Product Tour talking about the new features available in the new beta version of Google Analytics if anyone wants to check it out.
