Web Apps – a Waste of My Time

OK, so that might not be completely true, but in general it is.

I’ve yet to come across a web app that I find really useful. I’ll admit I haven’t tried them all, but the ones that I have leave me with no hope for finding a great web app in the future.

I currently have a LinkedIn account, which I haven’t touched in months. Some people swear by it, as far as getting new business, but I just don’t see it. Especially when there are 50 other people with the same name in the same field.

I also have a VIRB account, which I visit/update once a week if that. I have one or two friends that are on VIRB, but they don’t use it either, so I just feel like I’m taking up web space. Again, hasn’t proven to be useful yet.

I tried Twitter for a couple of weeks but that got old real fast. It took me more time to log in to write my message than it actually did to post it. Not worth my time. Plus, I could care less what people are doing every minute of the day, and I’m sure they think the same about me. If I really wanted to share some news with people, I’d call or email them.

I did MySpace way back when, and it’s super lame. The design is hideous, and in order to do a decent design, you’d have to spend hours. Guess what, I already spent hours designing this site, and it looks 1000% better than MySpace.

I’ve tried other web apps too pointless to mention, plus I can’t even remember what they are and did for me. The only web apps I use that are actually useful are GMail and Google Calendar. I should point out that I haven’t used Google Calendar in a while because I’ve already got a paper calendar that I find more useful to use.

I’m still looking for the perfect web app, but I’m not holding my breath. I’m all ears if someone wants recommend something, but still, I’m not getting my hopes up.
